Hello Stranger is a live-action online game (LAOG) centered around two people who want to communicate, but can't. The only way for them to send and receive messages is by sharing music online while pretending to be strangers. It’s a game for two players that can be played in a single session of approximately two hours or asynchronously over several days.

This game was written for Game Exploder - the Dice Exploder Game Jam. Hello Stranger is based on Radio Silence by Hannah J. Gray and a simplified version of its rules Gerrit Reininghaus came up with. You can find Radio Silence here.

Simplified Rules Playlist

For The Disc 2 TTRPG Jam a very special feature was added to Hello Stranger:

A  spotify playlist that includes all rules you need to play the game. So instead of reading the rules you can just listen to the songs and then facilitate the game! The song titles contain  a streamlined version of the game  -  feel free to add additional rules inspired by the lyrics.  You’ll find the playlist here.

This is a fantastic game and my go-to for a quick and immediately super emotional experience. As a person who usually approaches everything intellectually, being reduced to sharing songs as a communication means, it is such a good way to push me gently out of my comfort zone and into worthy territory of human interaction. The setup possibilities are so diverse, there is something in the game for everybody.

Thank you very much! :)

I was lucky enough to playtest this game and it was a blast! The prompts are very creative and some are outright hilarious. We decided to play two people who had to plan a surprise party for their nosy friend and I tried to be the worst planner possible. Little did we know that despite the non-romantic approach of our prompt, our session ended with both characters ditching the party-planning and putting their time and effort into each other. 😅🥰

Thank you so much for this kind comment. I had a lot of fun playing with you!
